The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Earlier today, I checked out the film adaptation of a book by C.S. Lewis…The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This is actually one of the seven Narnian Chronicles written by Lewis. (click here to read more about the 7 books. You could even listen to streaming audio synopses)

The first time I saw the trailer to this film, I promised myself to not ever miss it on the big screen. When it comes to checking out flicks, I rarely fail to break self-vows. I broke my self-promise of watching Constantine and The Day After Tomorrow…fortunately, I kept it this time..and boy, how glad I am that I did!

This film is one heck of an adventure. You’d be in for a rollercoaster ride in the movie house. You’d be amazed one minute, gasp in shock the next, and be moved to tears in another. Few movies intensely affect my emotions and this is one of those few.

The acting was great! I was especially charmed by the character Lucy, the youngest of the four siblings(I’m a youngest of four, myself..but that’s not really the reason of my being enthralled by her character..hehe!). She was just so sensitive, and witty, and so loving. You couldn’t help but be mesmerized by her. A sweet little girl…so vulnerable yet brave and strong in her own right. I loved the role she played! Aslan, the lion…was totally gripping, too. He was such a profound being. I was amazed by his stance. Having a lion play that kind of role really helped a lot. It put a lot of intensity into the character. And I’d have to say Tilda Swinton did really great, too as the White Witch. She had this GRRRRRing aura entirely fit for an ambitious witch and she also had the gracefulness of an aspirant queen. And yes, she was great in the fighting scenes, too. She was so awfully effective I even got half-scared by just watching her face in the big screen no matter how lovely it was. LoL!

The visual effects were great, too. The behind the scenes shown on the movie’s official website shows that it was indeed a lot of work. If I’m not mistaken, Aslan, the lion was 2 years in the making. And according to one of heads in the VFX department of the film, the hard work all paid off and it was great to see Aslan finally kickin’ it off in the big screen. How fulfilling it surely is for all of them!

In every film I watch, I always look out for the moral. In this film, the value of friendship, loyalty, and humility is taught. 3 values that I hold dear. At the end of the screening, I was reminded of these three values and how important they are to one’s life. These, in the film, are taught with much intensity.

I’m probably leaving you hanging right now but I’m ending this up here. If I speak another word, I would spare you the thrill of seeing for yourselves how amazingly good this film really is! You should go see it for yourselves(If you haven’t seen it yet, that is..but I presume you’ve seen it by now). And, oh…be ready for the ride! ;)

Au revoir for now! Have a good night! :)

p.s.
I can’t wait for the next film adaptation! It would pobably be Prince Caspian…or maybe The Horse and His Boy. Either which, I couldn’t wait. As early as now, I’m ready for the next adventure. ;) Oh…and one more thing…I luuuuv the soundtrack! Wunderkind by Alanis. :)
